Gamma was born in 1967 out of the dream of a handful of photographers. A dream of independence, responsibility, recognition and freedom. The events of the late 1960's gave a tremendous impulse to the young agency : May 1968, the war in Biafra, the Spring of Prague, the Vietnam War, the rise of private radio networks provided as innumerable stories the photographers of Gamma covered with passion.
35 years later, it is the same passion that continues to drive the photojournalists who have followed in the footsteps of their elders, working according to the tradition and ethics which have built the reputation of the agency.
