Paul Costa hits the ball with his mallet during a game of Segway Polo at Pondoresa park in Sunnyvale, CA. The Bay Area Segway Enthusiasts Group (SEG) meet regularly in a park in Sunnyvale, CA, to play a new and unique game, the Segway Polo. Two teams of four players each try to hit a ball into the opposite goal with a homemade mallet made out of PVC pipe, foam and duct tape, while riding their own Segway at a maximum speed of 8 mph. The Segway Human Transporter is a self-balancing, electric-powered transportation device that was released to the public in 2001 by inventor Dean Kamen who hoped to revolutionize public transportation with it.
