The first participants coming out of the auditions, some happy and some sad, depending if they were selected or not. Auditions for the fifth edition of the popular show, American Idol, took place on Aug. 18, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA, before continuing to five other cities across the US. The show offers the opportunity for one talented singer to perform before millions of TV viewers, become a household name and win a major recording contract.
